Temporary Closure of Angeles National Forest Enforced to Mitigate Critical Fire Risk and Protect Public Safety

Team Youngistaan

The U.S. Forest Service has announced the temporary closure of the Angeles National Forest to safeguard public safety and protect natural resources amid heightened fire risk.

The closure began at 12:00 a.m. on January 14, 2025, and will remain in effect until 12:00 midnight on January 19, 2025. The Forest Service made the announcement on X, citing “critical fire danger” as the reason for the decision.

The Angeles National Forest employs a system of graduated fire danger levels to assess fire risk and implement corresponding restrictions for visitors, recreational cabin owners, and concessioners. Violations of the closure order can result in severe penalties, including fines of up to $5,000 and/or six months in jail. Additionally, individuals found responsible for starting a wildfire will be held liable for all fire suppression costs.

This precautionary measure highlights the urgency of wildfire prevention efforts as California continues to face challenging fire conditions.
